This was originally a song called “Who’s Gonna Buy Your Chickens When I’m Gone.” People say that Dylan learned it from a later version: Paul Clayton’s “Who’s Goin’ to Buy You Ribbons When I’m Gone?” In my mind it was Bob Dylan who really defined the song.
This is part of a voice memo series I like to do. Recorded with an old iPhone set on a table in front of me. One take. |

An original song about Mariupol. A city I have close ties with. The song is called "Hell Remembers, Heaven Forgets." It's currently age restricted and not viewable because of the video imagery. I've blurred it so the audio is still available. I'll make a new video for the song at some point, turning the video into a celebration of the city, rather than a lament for its loss.

Yuki Tasaka wrapping up the mix for Jim Freeman's latest short film. A fun scoring and sound design collaboration. Looking forward to sharing it after it runs the festival circuit. |
Back to China after a handful of years. I used to live in Zhuzhou in the southwest. I call it Chinese Tennessee. This picture of me a is picture from the northeast.
Some of my favorite music is erhu music as performed in an underpass in southwest Hunan Province. Zhuzhou. I heard it from people who had no legs, who struggled across the ground on discs. |
I'm excited to have opened for the band Mary Shelley (Jimmy Chamberlin (from the Smashing Pumpkins), Scott Lucas (from Local H) and Matt Ulery) at Chicago International Movies and Music Festival (CIMMFest). |
